Jade Gray left New Zealand for China in 1996 with a smattering of Mandarin and a dream to make it in the worlds fastest growing economy. In a corporate career ranging from managing cattle breeding farms in the North East to supermarket retail in the South West, he gained unique insights into how to succeed and fail in China’s dynamic marketplace.
In 2000 he stepped out on his own and set off on an entrepreneurial journey that cumulated in the Restaurant Group Gung Ho! Ventures, owning several Award Winning Food & Beverage brands including the Gung Ho! Pizza and Pyro Pizza chains, later selling the group in 2019. He has since launched Off-Piste Provisions a food-technology company that develops and manufactures fortified plant-based meat products for nutritious eating on the go.
His professional passion lies in Social Entrepreneurship, speaking at numerous conferences on the issue, including at Tsinghua, Peking and Auckland Universities.
He has served as a New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) Beachheads advisor, is a member of the KEA World Class New Zealand network and has a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing/Chinese) from the University of Otago.
