If you are looking for a dedicated audio production and publishing application, I am going to recommend Hindenburg. (http://www.hindenburg.com) The audio auto leveling, the interface, the editing (it slides all the audio when you edit a section out), the display...I could go on. Finally I feel that producing a podcast isn't a chore, my back doesn't hurt and my wife isn't upset that I am late.
If you're using audacity, Garageband or the Adobe audio suite, I have to say that you just fall in love with this African princess.
